Shooting Yellowstone in Winter

Photographing Yellowstone National Park in the Winter is indescribable.  I recently returned home from our 2019 photography extravaganza and I am still on top of the world!  Wow, what an amazing trip in every way (I'm going to try not to use exclamation points after every sentence but it's truly the only way I can convey the excitement ).  One of my favorite things was our small group. Myself and 3 other photographers that were not only a joy to travel with but each possessed mad shooting skills! I cannot wait to see all of their photos.  

Our group spent 3 days in the Yellowstone National Park back country on a snow coach and 3 days in Yellowstone's Lamar Valley.  Each day offered amazing photography and I honestly cannot decide which area of the park is my favorite!  Below is some of the wildlife we photographed in Lamar Valley:

My alarm was set each day for 4:45 am to allow plenty of time for at LEAST 2 cups of coffee while I wandered the room in a daze and began my "it's going to be freezing outside" layering process.  Our photography group meets at 6 am to load out gear in the van and "wheels up" at 6:15 am.   We roamed Yellowstone National Park from sun up to sun down for 6 days in search of wildlife, magnificent frozen landscapes, and the most amazing light!
