A key part of what makes this experience special is the long-standing relationships I have with my local guides, whom I’ve traveled with for many years. They are experts in wildlife tracking, animal behavior, and the natural history of the region — and just as importantly, they understand how to position vehicles thoughtfully for the best photographic angles, light, and behavior. Photographers tend to be more particular than the average safari guest, and this level of awareness and experience makes a noticeable difference in the quality of the experience. These guides are truly family to me, and that sense of trust, care, and connection is something you’ll feel throughout the safari.
What Our Photography Goals Include
This Africa photography safari is designed to immerse you in some of the continent’s most iconic and photogenic wildlife regions. From the big tuskers of Amboseli set against dramatic mountain backdrops, to the rich predator and wildlife activity of Ndutu and the Serengeti, and the dense concentration of animals found within Ngorongoro Crater, photographers have the opportunity to work with an extraordinary variety of subjects and environments. Photography goals often include capturing elephants, big cats, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a wide range of birdlife, along with sweeping landscapes, layered light, and compelling wildlife behavior.
You can view images from previous trips in the Africa Wildlife Photography Gallery to get a sense of the photographic possibilities and the style of imagery we focus on throughout the safari.
As with all wildlife photography, nothing is ever guaranteed. Animals move freely, conditions change, and each day unfolds differently. This experience is about putting you in the best possible position through experience, timing, patience, and thoughtful positioning, while respecting that Africa’s wildlife remains wild and unpredictable. That unpredictability is part of what makes photographing Africa so powerful, authentic, and rewarding.
